Jen Valore, a native of Moorestown, N.J. and graduate of James Madison University, assumed the position of head coach of the Our Lady of Mercy Academy girls lacrosse program in 2017 and also serves as the school's Dean of Academics & Leadership. In just her second season at OLMA, Valore led the Villagers in 2018 to more wins in a season than the previous three years combined and their first-ever appearance and victory in the NJSIAA State Tournament.
During her coaching career, Valore has served as an instructor and coach for numerous lacrosse teams, camps and clinics across various levels with significant collegiate coaching experience. From 2011-2014 she served as the top assistant coach at the University of Michigan, helping to build, shape and develop Michigan’s first-ever Division I varsity women’s lacrosse program from the ground up as the recruiting and defensive coordinator. During her time at Michigan, she was selected to participate in the Rising Talent Leadership Program for assistant coaches and was instrumental in the team’s leadership development efforts and involvement with the Michigan Leadership Academy. Her collegiate coaching experience prior to Michigan came as an assistant coach at Temple University and Widener University, respectively.
Valore continues to be highly involved in coaching and leadership education and teaches as an adjunct professor for the Coaching Leadership and Sport Management programs at Drexel University and is the development coordinator for the Drexel Sports Leadership Academy. Additionally, she helps to unite Philadelphia area coaches each year by serving as an assistant director for the Philadelphia Coaches Conference held annually at Drexel. Currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management, Valore continues to follow her passion for coaching, leadership and lacrosse by focusing her dissertation research on sport leadership development for youth athletes.
At JMU, Valore was a four-year starter on defense (1997-2000), played in four consecutive NCAA Tournaments, captained the Dukes' squad that reached the NCAA Final Four, (2000) and was named South Jersey Division I Collegiate Defender of the Year (2000). Coach Valore resides in Philadelphia, Pa. and is helping to grow the sport of lacrosse in the city as a coach and camp director for Philly Girls in Motion, a volunteer-driven organization that engages girls in sports, fitness activities and education that encourages healthy habits.
